BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF HARFORD COUNTY ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF NEW BOARD MEMBERS

 

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County is pleased to announce that Nathan Evans, John Smack and Rory White have all accepted appointments to the Board of Directors.  Terry Sexton, current President of the Board of Directors, introduced these new members at a recent meeting of the Board of Directors.  “We are pleased that these gentlemen have all agreed to take on the challenge of providing a better future for Harford County’s youth.  Their talents will enhance those of our existing Board members and will make our organization even stronger” Sexton says.

 

 Nathan Evans is a District Customer Solutions Manager with Best Buy/ Geek Squad.  He manages 15 stores and 1200 employees from Bel Air, MD to Martinsburg, WV.  Nathan and his wife Kimberly live in Baltimore County with their young daughter.    He attended Virginia Commonwealth University participating in the Business Honors Program.  In addition to his involvement with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County, Nathan is on the Board of Directors for the Maryland Retailers Association where he serves on the legislative committee.  He has worked with the Maryland School for the Deaf and with Deaf employees in the Frederick area earning Best Buy the “Business Partner of the Year” award in 2008 and the New Freedom Initiative Award from the Department of Labor-Office of Disability Employment.

 

 John Smack is the Sales Manager for Vulcan Materials Company in Havre de Grace.  He is a graduate of Elon University.  He and his wife Liberty reside in Port Deposit with their three young children.  John is a Board Member of the Maryland Corporate Wetlands Restoration Partnership and has participated in the Leadership Development Program at the Center for Creative Leadership.  John has been involved with the Havre de Grace Chamber of Commerce as well as the Harford County Chamber of Commerce.  He will be joining the Resource Development Committee at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County.

 

Rory White is a financial advisor for Edward Jones Investments in Havre de Grace.  He and his wife Debbie reside in Bel Air with their two children.  Rory is a graduate of West Point and has served 6 years in the US Army in the field of aviation.  He has received an MBA from St. Joseph’s University and a JD from Seattle University.  In addition to his new role with the Boys & Girls Clubs, Rory is also active in the Havre de Grace Rotary and the Havre de Grace Main Street

 

About the Boys & Girls Clubs of HarfordCounty:  The Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County was incorporated in 1990 by a group of concerned citizens in the Aberdeen area.  In its 20 year history, it has grown to 4 sites throughout Harford County and now serves more than 400 children and teens on a daily basis.  Our mission is to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.  The Club is open to all youth ages 6 to 18 and provides positive youth development programs in five core areas: Character and Leadership Development; Health & Life Skills; Education & Career Development; the Arts; and Sports, Fitness and Recreation.
