What comes to mind when you think of Halloween? Ghosts, trick-or-treating and CANDY!!! Candy corn … candied apples … chocolate bars … and the list goes on. Kids and teens all across Harford County will hit the streets dressed as heroes and villains to collect mounds of sugary treats.

One of the strangest things about social policy in this country is that we know what works and yet don't do more of it. Take high-school dropout rates, which currently stand at roughly 50 percent for Latino and African-American males. The half who don't graduate (about a million kids a year) are often dooming themselves to a Hobbesian life that is "nasty, brutish and short." The wasted human potential is dooming the United States to second-class status as a global economic power.

The Home Depot Gives The Aberdeen Unit a NEW LOOK

On June 8th and 9th, 120 Volunteers from The Home Depot will be coming to the Aberdeen Unit to give the Club a much needed make-over. Volunteers will be coming from 17 stores in the Baltimore region and will be painting, carpeting, building shelving units and performance some general repairs to give the Club a new look. A ribbon cutting ceremony is planned for June 9th at 3 PM at the Aberdeen Club.
