Throughout the year, we are given the gift of more than 6,000 amazing kids who come into our Harford County Clubs and share with us their stories of determination, triumph, and perseverance.
Each Club member pays between $20 dollars for a 1 year membership. Each Club member requires $1,000 dollars in raised funds in order to directly support his or her Club experience.
You can join us this Holiday Season- help us Give the Gift of a Great Future to 150 youth in our community.
Living with the challenges of Autism, Christopher struggled to communicate and socialize with his teachers and peers. He joined the Boys & Girls Club this past summer, in hopes of building these skills. His first week was hard. Chris desperately missed the comfort and security of his own home. Slowly, though, Christopher began to warm up to the staff, and some of the Club kids; something that is difficult for any 6 year-old.
By the third week, Chris was coming every day, and did not want to leave when his mom came to pick him up. What was truly amazing was how middle school youth made it their responsibility to watch out for Chris. They would help him in games, cheer him on, and play Just Dance in the games room. Chris has always been able to get the entire Aberdeen Club in a good mood. Just Dance is one of his favorite activities, he loves the STEM lab, art room and swimming.
Chris made huge strides in a matter of weeks and by the Fall, his teachers were amazed at his improved communication skills. Chris said, “The Boys & Girls Club is very special to me. I’ve made new friends that I love, and it gives me a place to be happy.”
We serve some amazing youth. We know Chris, and all of our other Club kids deserve the best. The unyielding support from our community has allowed us to serve thousands of youth for the past 25 years. This Giving Tuesday, will you consider a donation towards a Great Future?
