How You Can Help
Violet Ripken (Vi) an extraordinary woman full of compassion and heart, gives a great deal to the community and creates a positive environment for our precious youth. Living in Aberdeen, Vi knew that something needed to be done to improve the lives of children from disadvantaged circumstances in Harford County. To provide hope and opportunities for youth, she helped establish a Boys & Girls Club of America presence in the county that became a model for Clubs around the state.
Your support through The Violet Society helps us provide every child with the life-enhancing experiences that enable today’s youth to conquer tomorrow’s challenges. Your donation will be useful to local Boys & Girls Clubs by making it possible to hire and train new staff, implement effective programs, and keep dues low so every child can join. Help us continue to make a bright future for our kids by donating to our Clubs in Aberdeen, Bel Air, Edgewood and Harve de Grace.
The Violet Society, formed in 2007, was created to honor donors and increase their involvement with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County. Individuals who donate a minimum of $1,000 annually to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County will be recognized through membership in The Violet Society. Once in the society, the amount you chose to donate will automatically be pledged each year to ensure the Clubs encouraging future.
Michael Phelps' Olympic Victories Commemorative
As the story goes, Michael Phelps was walking down a corridor at Towson High School and bumped into a classroom door. One of the teachers who witnessed it had to chuckle and said to Phelps, “I thought you were an Olympic swimmer.” To which Phelps’ replied, “I’m not that good on land.”
Well, all the world now knows how good he is in water.
To honor his historic sports achievement, Nikco Sports will produce a limited edition, framed and double-matted photograph that contains 8 colorful pictures of Phelps holding up his gold medal after each victory, a montage that is exclusively made to help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Harford County raise monies. Phelps is on the honorary Board of Directors for the club. For more information please click here.
