From owl pellets to cupcakes
By Joi D.
There are many reasons why I go to the Boys and Girls Club. One of them is to see the lovely and phenomenal teen director and club ambassador, Ms. Enga. Another reason I go to the Boys and Girls Club is to be a part of the fun and awesome STEM class taught on Wednesdays by none other than the very smart and cool guy, Mr. Greg. The STEM class is made up of 5th and 4th graders who enjoy science and doing experiments. So far in our class we have dissected owl pellets, we have made pasta bridges, and we have broken geodes. My favorite experiment was baking cupcakes, but leaving out one ingredient in each cupcake. I liked that experiment because I got to eat cupcakes. We went to Friendly’s to hand out awards to the student who earned the most points and to the student with the best notes taken. I am proud to say that my younger sister Zoe won a Friendly’s gift card for best notes taken. Also my friend Jocelyn won a gift card to Friendly’s for being the student with the most points. The STEM class is the best thing to happen to the Boys and Girls Club since cookies for snack. To me the only down side of the STEM class is that I have to clean up afterward, even though I usually help make the mess!
